He remained a faithful member until 1940, when he transferred his membership to the congregational church in Geneva. Read More	ENGLE, CONSTANTINE ALEXANDER—Constantine Alexander Engle, son of Henry and Margaret (Wambold) Engle, was born January 17, 1891, near Friend, Neb. He passed away at his home east of Geneva, Neb., March 20, 1956, at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 3 days. Mr. Engle was baptized and confirmed in the German Congregational church while a small child. He remained a faithful member until 1940, when he transferred his membership to the congregational church in Geneva. He grew to manhood in the Friend community, where he was united in marriage to Emma Svehla, April 2, 1921. To this union eight children were born, all of whom survive. They are four sons, George, Frank, Harold and Willis of Geneva, and four daughters, Mrs. Arlan Becker of Exeter, Mrs. Delbert Sorge, Anna and Mary of Geneva. Surviving also are his devoted wife, Emma, seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Peter Baker of Hastings, two brothers, John of Chicago and Henry of Beatrice, two daughters-in-law, Phyllis and Helen Engle, two sons-in-law, Arlan Becker of Exeter and Delbert Sorge of Geneva, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Katie, and one brother Fred. Mr. and Mrs. Engle began their married life on a farm near Friend. In 1924 they moved to a farm near Fairmont, later moving to the Geneva community, where Mr. Engle had lived the past 24 years. He was a loving and devoted husband and father in times of trial and suffering. He had been in poor health for the past ten years, being confined to his bed for the last three and one-half years. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church in Geneva at 2 p. m. Friday, March 23. Rev. L. E. Werner officiated. The singing was by a male quartet, Sheldon Johnson, Wallace Swanson, Charles Barbur and Richard Wagner, who sang “We Are Going Down the Valley,” “In the Garden” and “Softley and Tenderly.” Mrs. Mary Johnson presided at the organ. Pallbearers were Reuben and Kenneth Baker of Hastings, Julius Engle of Fairmont, Calvin Engle, Joseph Svehla Jr. and Frank Svehla of Friend. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
