Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Thursday , July 21st, 1966 - EARLY — Cora Ann Greenley, daughter of George and Susan Greenley, was born in Rickardsville, Iowa, October 10, 1877 and passed away July 11, 1966 in Sioux City, Iowa. After attending Epworth College for two years she taught in rural schools in Dubuque County in 1907 she was united in marriage to James Hartley Garfield. They were the foster parents of one daughter, Florence, (Mrs. Lavern Busker). The early years of their marriage were spent in Wall Lake. From there they moved to a farm near Early, later mowing to the town of Early where they operated a grocery store until Mr Garfield's death about 25 years ago. In 1942 she was married to John Wilcox in Storm Lake after which they moved to Big Fork, Montana. In 1954 Mr. Wilcox passed away and she returned to Early. In 1959 she moved to Sioux City to the home of her daughter and later entered the Matney Nursing Home, where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Methodist church, Order of Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters and Rebekah Lodge. Survivors are her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Busker of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Mr. James Busker Kansas and wife Janet of Overland Park, Kansas, Mr. Donald Busker and wife, JoAnn of Sioux City; four great grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Frank Hicks of Early and Mrs. Frances Holdridge of Long Beach, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Ann Garfield Wilcox were held from the Methodist church in Early on Friday, July 15, with Rev Harold Sherman officiating. Anderson funeral home of Sioux City was in charge. Music was provided by Julianne Ward, soloist with Mrs Robert Evans as organist. Attendants were Paul Hess, Cecil Engler, Rufus Mau, Ellsworth Mason, Charles Frerichs and Foster Steele. The body was laid to rest in Early Union Cemetery.
