The Sac Sun - Thursday , December 19th, 1918 - Killed at a railway crossing in Canada - Early - Dec 18 - The funeral of Geo W Greenley was held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Early last Thursday. Mr Greenley resided for about 10 years in the vicinity of Early and has several relatives and many friends in this community. He came to his death accidentally in the vicinity of Moose Jaw, Sask.,Canada on Dec 6, 1918 on the day after his 41st birthday. On that morning he started for Moose jaw with his automobile and was found dead later about 12 miles from his destination at a railroad crossing, having been struck by a train the car was demolished and death apparently was instantaneous. The body was brought to Early for interment and the funeral was held as aforementioned. The pall bearers were W Richard Hinde, Wm R Hinde, Frank Hirons, Frank Hinde, Will Barrow, and Will Jackson. Mr Greenley was born at Rickardville, Dubuque county, IA on Dec 5, 1877. When he was 23 years of age he came with his parents to Sac county and located on a farm immediately north of Early, where he lived for several years. About 11 years ago he moved to Saskatchewan and there he spent the balance of his life. Besides his father and mother, Mr and Mrs George Greenley of Early, he leaves 5 sisters and 2 brothers and many other friend to lament his untimely end. His sisters are: Mrs Alice Roche of Early; Mrs Martha Gooding of Roulaeau, Canada, Mrs Cora Garfield of Early; Mrs Frances Holdridge of Waterloo; and Mrs Tillie Hicks of Storm Lake. HIs brothers are TE Greenley of Early and John Greenley of Rogleau, Canada. All the relatives herein mentioned were present at the funeral.
