Lydick was born on the Lydick Homestead January 25, 1869, near Tekamah, Nebr., and passed away January 16, 1956, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 22 days. She was the second child of Hiram C. and Mary E. Lydick, early pioneers of Burt county. She received her early education in the Arizona and Tekamah schools and attended college in Shenandoah, Ia., and Lincoln, Nebr. She spent two years working in Red Oaks, Ia., and also taught one school term. In 1902 she kept house for her brothers, Samuel and James, and also spent one year with relatives in Oregon. The remainder of her life was lived on the homestead in the Arizona community. She attended the Arizona Methodist church, working in the Sunday School and Epworth League and was a regular attedant at prayer meetings and church services. Cora Lydick was a self reliant, courageous and persistent person with a love of labor. Survivors include one sister, Rose, two brothers, Samuel of Craig and Jake of Tekamah. I remember my Aunt Cora very well. She was always kind and thoughtful. I last saw her at her home in 1954 and we had a nice visit as I was driving through from GA to CA while in the USAF.
