(James) Cook [Mary died in Fort Scott, Bourbon co., Kansas ] From "The Edgar Sun", Edgar, Nebraska dated Thursday, January 8, 1959: Obituary, Lofquist – Cora Madge Lofquist was born at Kahoka, Clark county, Mo., August 23, 1871, the daughter of Mary James Cook and Lindley Cook. She passed away in Portland, Oregon, of a heart attack on Thursday, Dec. 4th at the age of 87 years 3 months and 11 days. She was married to Samuel A. Lofquist in Keokuk, Lee county, Iowa on March 11th, 1889. To this union were born our children, Harry, Glenn, Viola and Elna. The family moved to Nebraska in 1908 where they lived on a farm in the vicinity of Fairfield until 1924 when they moved to Wahoo, Neb. where Mr. Lofquist was employed at Biggerstaff Furniture and Undertaking Establishment in charge of the furniture repair department. Survivors are her two sons, Harry and Glenn of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Elna of Milwaukee, Oregon (a suburb of Portland); ten grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. A daughter, Viola, passed away in Wahoo, Neb. In January, 1925, and Mr. Lofquist in Wahoo in September, 1934. Also surviving are two brothers, Vide and Jess Cook of Fairfield, Neb. She was a most loving, patient and understanding mother and wife, and a good neighbor and friend. She became a member of the Methodist church at an early age and was an active and faithful worker for church and community until becoming an invalid in 1948. Services were held in Milwaukee, Ore., Dec. 6th, 1958, at 2 p.m. at Peake Memorial Chapel with Rev. Orville Covault of the Oak Grave Methodist church in charge of the service. A second service was held in Wahoo at the Ericson Funeral Home on Dec. 9th with the Ralph Rasmussen of the Wahoo Methodist church officiating and the Purity Rebecca Lodge No. 81 conducting the memorial services. Men of the Odd Fellows lodge were pallbearers. Burial was in Sunrise cemetery in Wahoo beside her husband. Those attending in Wahoo from a distance were: son, Harry of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Elna of Milwaukee, Ore.; brother, Jess Cook, and niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. LeVern Washburn of Fairfield. Also friends, Mrs. Roy Ridgway of Fairfield and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kister of Hastings and grandchildren, Mrs. Donald Krick of Ord and Kenneth Busboom and wife and their twin daughters, Jean and Janet, of Council Bluffs.
