Daughter of Hiram Justice Moon and Elizabeth Ann Wilson OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 29, 1962 CORA CHAMBERLAIN Cora May Moon, daughter of Hiram J. and Elizabeth Moon, was born near Cloud, Iowa, on Dec. 12, 1880 and departed this life on March 22, 1962, at the Choate Nursing Home in Indianola, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 10 days. She was united in marriage to William N. Chamberlain on Jan. 12, 1913. To this union three children were born, Keith, Virl and Cleo Marie. Her life was spent in Lucas and Marion counties with the exception of the past six years when she had resided at Indianola. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in early womanhood, uniting with the Belinda Christian church, where her membership has remained through the years. "Aunt Cora" as he was affectionately known to many of her friends, will be sadly missed by all. She was preceded in death by Mr. Chamberlain on Dec. 7, 1937, daughter Cleo on Sept. 27, 1919, an infant granddaughter, Bonnie Lee Chamberlain, her father, mother, six sisters and four brothers. Her twin brother, Carl Moon, died Dec. 20, 1940. Surviving are her sons, Keith of Indianola, Virl of Des Moines, the daughters-in-law, ten grand children, two sisters-in-law, Maude Moon and Grace Moon, a brother-in-law, George Cratty, all of Chariton, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 1962. The Rev. Clarence Newby officiated at the services. Interment was made in the Strong cemetery near Belinda.
