Daughter of Hiram Justice Moon and Elizabeth Ann Wilson OBITUARY THE CHARITON LEADER Chariton, Iowa Tuesday, March 20, 1956 CELESTINE ASKREN Celestine Ione Moon, daughter of Hiram Justice and Elizabeth Moon, was born near Cloud, Marion county, Iowa, on Oct. 21, 1876 and departed from this life March 13, 1956 at the age of 79 years, four months and 21 days. She had been a patient at the Baker nursing home for over two years, where her last months were made more pleasant by the tender care given to her. On March 4, 1896 she was married to William Askren, who passed away March 1, 1948. To this union nine children were born, six of whom survive. She accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Belinda Christian church where her membership remained through the years. She will be missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, her father and mother, five sisters and four brothers. Surviving are the children, Mrs. Aurel Tallmon, Mrs. Lois Irving, Jud, Hazel, Alice and Cleta, all of Chariton and vicinity. One sister, Mrs. Cora Chamberlain of Chariton, 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Belinda Christian church Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals. Music was provided by Waldo McCorkle and Mrs. Helen Woods, pianist. Six grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in the Strong cemetery.
