Description	:	Cordia Ann Allison, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Alfred Allison, was born June 20, 1892, on the family homestead three and a half miles northeast of New Market, Iowa, and departed this life Jan 17, 1939, at her home one and one-half miles west of New Market. Her childhood days were all spent on the family homestead. She was united in marriage to Carl David Hughes Feb 21, 1912. To this union one son, Kyle Jackson Hughes, was born. Read More	Cordia Ann Allison, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Alfred Allison, was born June 20, 1892, on the family homestead three and a half miles northeast of New Market, Iowa, and departed this life Jan 17, 1939, at her home one and one-half miles west of New Market. Her childhood days were all spent on the family homestead. She was united in marriage to Carl David Hughes Feb 21, 1912. To this union one son, Kyle Jackson Hughes, was born. Mr and Mrs Hughes have lived their 27 years of happily married life in the New Market vicinity. Her death came as a great shock to her family and the whole community, and a place has been vacated that can never be filled. She had been a member of the New Market Baptist church for many years. Cordia was a devoted mother, and sacrificed many things for her home and loved ones. A kind and loving personality was one of her many virtues. Her friendliness and neighborliness won for her many staunch and faithful friends. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and son, Kyle, and wife, Lolabelle; her mother, Mrs Etta Allison; one sister, Mrs Laura Mankle; two brothers, Clifford and Lawrence, all of New Market. Also her mother-in-law, Mrs Eva Hughes, and one sister-in-law, Mrs Vera Zimmerman. Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Her father and one infant brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in New Market. Singers, Miss Opal Wallace and Miss Pauline Yates. Pallbearers were Trace Pershing, Joe Hipsley, Earnest Thompson, Cecil Crawford, Carl Cade and Chester Pratt. Burial was in Memory cemetery.
