She was born in Richland County, Ohio, near Ashland November 16, 1835. She came with her parents, Mr and Mrs Samuel Baughman, to Noble County in October 1854 and settled on a farm near Lisbon. She married Simon Bowman on December 25, 1855. He died August 10, 1864 at Knoxville, Tenn, while serving as lieutenant in the 129th Indiana and is buried in the National Cemetery in that city. For a number of years she resided in Lisbon and Albion. She came to Bremen in 1878. She married Henry M Garver November 10, 1878. Since that time they have been engaged in the hotel business. She leaves a husband; one son, Brook H Bowman of Whiting, Ind; 2 stepsons, Melvin and Evan Garver; 2 stepdaughters, Mrs Lizzie Huff and Mrs Nettie Gnewikow; 2 grandchildren, Nellie Bowman and Otho Huff; 2 brothers, Francis and Henry Baughman; 2 sisters, Mrs Edward Ihrie, and Mrs Lou Hinkley. Funeral was at the Garver Hotel Sunday. Burial, Bremen Cemetery where services were held by the Eastern Star Lodge. Democrat (Noble Co,IN) 15 May 1902
