In 1867 he came to Morgan county; worked on a farm five years and 1874 he returned to his old home. The charms of the west brought him back to Missouri in 1876, where he settled in Dallas county and ran a blacksmith shop until 1882, when he opened a store at Versailles. In 1884 he took up agricultural implements, which line he has pursued persistently ever since, being the leading implement dealer of Morgan county. Mr. Hardy has been a staunch democrat all his life and one of the leaders of Morgan county. In 1893 he was elected collector, which office he held two years. He is a successful business man and has won the friendship of all who know him." ----- Cornelia died December 11, 1901, on her 66th Birthday Sedalia Evening Sentinel Friday, December 13, 1901 "MRS. FODDRILL DEAD. Mrs. Cornelia Foddrill of Versailles, died Wednesday at her home in that city. She was 66 years of age. She was the mother of three children, who survive her. The funeral was held at the Baptist church in that city Thursday afternoon."
