Description	:	October 11, 1925 ~ January 11, 2015 Cornelia “E.C.” Melton passed into heavenly arms on January 11, 2015. She was born in Brockwell, AR on October 11, 1925. She was the youngest child born to Joseph and Fannie Foust. Because Brockwell did not have a post office or zip code at that time, her birth certificate lists Newburg, AR as her birthplace. She was born in Brockwell, AR on October 11, 1925. She was the youngest child born to Joseph and Fannie Foust. Because Brockwell did not have a post office or zip code at that time, her birth certificate lists Newburg, AR as her birthplace. Her father died when she was 18 months old and her mother raised her and her brother and sister alone, during the difficult times of the Depression. She received her education in a one-room school at Pine Ridge, AR. She eloped with the love of her life, Otis “Pete” Melton on October 23, 1946. This decision was much to the chagrin of her mother, who did not think him the perfect choice, but she went with her heart and the wedding took place in front of a justice of the peace in Melbourne, AR. They were married for 49 years until his death in 1996. When Otis became ill in 1989, she made the choice to care for him at home, until his death seven years later. That decision was another she was advised against, this time by the hospital staff, and as before, it was the right decision for her. They lived and farmed in Brockwell, until moving to Wenatchee in 1952, for a better living opportunity for their family. When her mother became ill, she brought her here from Arkansas to care for her at home, until her death in 1974. She was baptized in a creek when she was a teenager and that strong Christian faith stayed with her throughout her entire life. We know she is chatting with her loved ones in heaven today. This faith was used in raising her four children, giving them a strong foundation for their futures. When the children were at home, Otis worked a rotating shift at Alcoa, leaving her to be the enforcer for all rules. She took that job on heartily, as she did with any task, and she was good at it. She was a loving wife and mother who was a strong role model for her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Kellie for caring for Mom during her the last months. It allowed her to stay at home and be near her family. It was a blessing for her and all of the family. Cornelia was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, TJ; her sister, Joyce; her husband, Otis; her daughter, Bonnie; and an infant daughter. She leaves behind her son, John (LauVonne) of Wenatchee; her son, Donald (Kellie) of Wenatchee; and her daughter, Connie of White Swan. She is survived by her grandchildren, Edward, Josh, Michael, Savannah, Harmony, Caitlin, and Zach. She was “Grandma G.G.” to her great-grandchildren, Otis, Sari, Rythm, Isaac, Samara, Jaxson and Tyler. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley at 1:00 p.m. Concluding Services and Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
