Born in East River Point, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Lucy (Rost) and James Nauss. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her early years she taught in the one-room schoolhouses in Canaan and North West Cove. Later she worked for the Department of Northern and Indian Affairs for the federal government in Ottawa. She retired in 1976 and returned to her new home in East River in 1977. She volunteered at Bonny Lea Farm and was active in Christian Women's Club, supporting it in various capacities. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and the great outdoors, walking and gardening. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Anna Mae Webber, Jean Finney, Fran DeLong, Jay Nauss, Janet Harrison, Barbara Stewart, John Nauss, Dale Nauss, Wayne Nauss, Marilyn Keddy, Bernard Nauss, Betty Hennigar, Joan Dacey, Lynette Joy, Phillip Grey and Nancy Jamison, and cousin, Ella Rost. She was predeceased by sisters, Salida Dauphinee, Mae Millett, Edith Butler, and Doris Grey; brothers, Austin, Clinton, Clark and Leslie, and in infancy, Bernard, Ellis, Violet and Ronald. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held in St. George's Anglican Church, East River on Tuesday, January 24, at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Bonny Lea Farm or St. George's Anglican Church through Davis Funeral Home, Chester.
