Description	:	Cornell S. Sober, 85, of Shelton died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. The Rev. Patsy Busey will officiate. Mr. Sober's body was donated to the University of Nebraska Medical Center Anatomical Board. Mr. Sober was born Aug. 14, 1915, at Shelton to Clyde and Mertie Sober. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1932. He married Marjorie Beetem in 1935. Patsy Busey will officiate. Mr. Sober's body was donated to the University of Nebraska Medical Center Anatomical Board. Mr. Sober was born Aug. 14, 1915, at Shelton to Clyde and Mertie Sober. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1932. He married Marjorie Beetem in 1935. He worked for the railroad and farmed until 1947, when he started his own business in Shelton. He owned a cafe, gas station and night club. He also sold used cars. He moved to Grand Island in 1959, and continued in the used car business. In 1965, he moved to California and sold used cars. He married Phyllis Johnson in 1967, and adopted her daughter. He retired in 1980, and moved back to Shelton, where he lived until his death. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, of Shelton; a brother, Melvin of Greeley, Colo.; four sons, Jimmie of San Diego, Calif., Ronald "Joe" of New Braumfels, Texas, Terry of Fullerton, Calif. and Dale "Scott" of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Karen Skinner of Fresno, Calif., Pamela Miller of Grand Island, Judy Borowski of Fullerton, Calif. and Kelly Jo Chastine of Colton, Calif.; a step-daughter, Judy Meester of Holdrege; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
