Description	:	Coy Gammill passed away on July 3, 2016 at the age of 91 years. He was born in 1924 to George and Claudia Gammill. He lived in the Fairview community, near Timbo, and spent all his life on the land where he was born and raised. He married Verda Wilson in 1946 and shared their life together until her death. He was born in 1924 to George and Claudia Gammill. He lived in the Fairview community, near Timbo, and spent all his life on the land where he was born and raised. He married Verda Wilson in 1946 and shared their life together until her death. After losing their father at a young age, Coy and his family survived the Depression by growing crops, raising livestock and managing the farm and home. With chores to do before and after school and on the weekends, the lesson of hard work was learned early. His first paid job as a young boy was to build a fire in the stove at the Fairview schoolhouse early each morning so the classroom would be warm when the students arrived. As many others did during those times, he left home as a young man to work various jobs to earn money. He drove a truck at a gunpowder plant in Kansas, picked crops in Colorado, worked at an oil company in Oklahoma, picked cotton in eastern Arkansas and drove harvest equipment in various locations. In 1952, he began working for Stone County driving a dump truck and operating a bulldozer. He continued operating a bulldozer in the area, building timber roads in the forest and working for local companies for a few years until he purchased his own bulldozer in the early 1970s. He maintained and operated the same bulldozer for the rest of his life, doing his last job in 2015 at the age of 90. He was well known for the quality of his work and took great care in all that he did, never leaving a job until it was done to his satisfaction. His reputation was the only advertisement that he ever needed. Coy was a man of strength and character with a tender heart under a tough exterior. He worked hard all of his life and loved his family. He had a wealth of knowledge and ability to make, do, or fix almost anything. He was kind to everyone and never complained even through his last days. He enjoyed good fried catfish, garden vegetables, local fresh fruit, cornbread, chocolate gravy and homemade pies. His favorite music was bluegrass and old time country. He is survived by his daughter, Dolores and son-in-law Doug McNiven of Edmond, Oklahoma and a brother, Carbin Gammill of Timbo. He is also survived by a sister-in law, Florene Morrison of Mountain View, three brothers-in-law, Olen and Elma Wilson of Timbo, Una and Harriette Wilson of Mountain Home and J.C. Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded by his wife, parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 5 half-brothers & 2 half-sisters. Roller Coffman Funeral Home
