Description	:	Elmer G. Jones Elmer G. Jones, 84, died Sunday night following an extended illness at the Cherry Street Nursing Home where he had made his home for the past few years. Born on June 23, 1886 in Cherokee to Samuel and Sena Peterson Jones, he married Irene Jones in Cherokee on June 19, 1919. He was a conductor on the Illinois Central Railroad before his retirement. Jones, 84, died Sunday night following an extended illness at the Cherry Street Nursing Home where he had made his home for the past few years. Born on June 23, 1886 in Cherokee to Samuel and Sena Peterson Jones, he married Irene Jones in Cherokee on June 19, 1919. He was a conductor on the Illinois Central Railroad before his retirement. He was a veteran of World War I serving with the 13th Engineers. He was a membor of the VFW in Cherokee and the Railroad Lodge. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Castle of Pickstown, S. D.; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. R. J. (Lena) Dagger of Cherokee and Mrs. Chester (Leta) Coziah of Mason City. Preceding him in death were his wife on April 14, 1962; his parents; on brother, Charles in March 1967 and one sister, Hazel, in Childhood. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenwood Funeral Home with Curtis Reynolds, pastor of First Church of Christ in Cherokee, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
