The pallbearers were Ray Coy Jr., Elmer Smith, Dennis Neal, Floyd Marvick, Roland Bontrager and Clyde Atwood. Lester O. Bull was the son of Charles and Nettie Bull and was born in Hastings, Iowa, November 18, 1921, and died August 21, 1943 as the result of a motor vehicle accident, at almost 24 years of age. He moved to Villisca with his parents when a very small boy and attended school in Villisca, graduating with the class of 1939. He was awarded two medals by the high school, one for citizenship and one for schlarship, and in July, 1939, for salesmanship by the Register and Tribune of Des Moines. He was awarded a scholarship to the American Institute of Business as one of their carriers. After graduating from the business school, he took a position with the International Harvester Co. of Chicago and was made assistant traveling auditor of the company, which place he held until he answered the call of his country. In the army he was first located at Ft. Crook, Nebr., where he did typing and finger-printing for eight months and then was sent to Aberdeen, Md., for ordnance training. After three months there he went to Camp Stoneman, California, and left for overseas duty in August, 1943. His mother preceded him in death on February 21, 1939. He leaves his father of Villisca, a sister, Maxine Bull, of Nodaway and an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Baker, also of Nodaway. Lester was a faithful member of the Villisca Advent Christian church. The body was accompanied to Villisca by Cpl. Raphael J. Mercile of Kansas City, who remained for the services and interment, which was in the Nodaway cemetery.
