Description	:	Lorenzo Dow Long was only fifteen years old when he enlisted as a Private on July 19, 1861. He served in Co. B, in the 10th Infantry Regiment, SC. However, it was discovered that he was underage, so he was discharged less than a year later on May 20th, 1862. Not to be dissuaded, Lorenzo enlisted again as D.L. Long in Co. K, 26th Infantry Regiment, SC. He was successful this time, and served throughout the remainder of the war. Lorenzo was promoted to Corporal. Lorenzo was promoted to Corporal. On July 30, 1864 he was captured at the Battle of the Crater during the Siege of Petersburg, VA. He was held prisoner at Pt. Lookout, MD until the end of the war. He was honorably discharged on June 28, 1865. Lorenzo married twice, first to Mary Frances Oliver who passed away in 1887, then to Martha McMillian. He had 12 children. He became the Treasurer for Horry County, SC where he lived the rest of his life. On September 26, 1889 Lorenzo participated in a reunion of the 10th SC Infantry.
