Wallace was born in Perry county, Ohio, March 1, 1827, and died at his home in Carlisle, Iowa, March 30, 1906, aged 79 years and one month. He was married to Sarah Nichols near Cardington, Ohio, March 9, 1848. He came to Iowa in 1852 with ox teams and settled in Marion county. In Aug., 1862, he volunteered in Co. Wallace was born in Perry county, Ohio, March 1, 1827, and died at his home in Carlisle, Iowa, March 30, 1906, aged 79 years and one month. He was married to Sarah Nichols near Cardington, Ohio, March 9, 1848. He came to Iowa in 1852 with ox teams and settled in Marion county. In Aug., 1862, he volunteered in Co. G. 33rd Iowa Infantry and served until Nov., 1864, when he was discharged on account of disability. He came to Lucas county in 1866 and settled in Ottercreek township, where he lived until 1893, when he rented his farm and moved to Carlisle, where he resided until his demise. He was converted about 1857 and joined the church of United Brethren in Christ and was a faithful member. His wife died Aug. 8, 1883. They were the parents of 11 children, 9 sons and 2 daughters. Two sons died in infancy, John in 1879 and Charlie in 1898. Those living were all at the funeral excepting James, who lives in Oklahoma. They are Oscar and George, of this county, William F., of Corning, Theodore, of Lacona, Mrs. Nissie Ackors, of Carlisle and Mrs. Cora Officer, of Leon. He also leaves a wife with these children to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. The remains were brought to Norwood and funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church by Rev. Fye, on Monday, April 2, and he was buried in the Fletcher cemetery beside his first wife.
