| Description | : | Joseph Field (circa 1731-1780) was a son, probably the youngest son, of William Field (1698-1748) and his wife Jane, possibly Benton (d. after 1773). The family came from the Maryland/Pennsylvania border area to North Carolina in the 1750s. Joseph married Lydia Julian (c. 1746-1819), and they are said to have had ten children, but I only have names for five of them. Joseph and his older brothers William, Jeremiah and Robert Field, were involved with the Regulators, who protested the corrupt policies of the administration of North Carolina's British governor Lord William Tryon.
