Box 7858 in Urbandale, zip code 50322, or to P.O. Box 17 Muscatine, zip code 52761. LaVerne Lang was born Dec. 4, 1920, in Bloomfield to Lola Faye Wilson Lang and Crayton Alva Lang. He married Elexene Bowling in 1942 in Queen City, Mo. He graduated from Davis County High School and served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a Signal Corpman in Northern Africa and Italy. After the war he returned to Bloomfield and entered into the jewelry business with his parents and wife. In 1962 he and his wife purchased Zoller's Jewelry Store in Muscatine, of which he was owner and an active partner until its close in December 2002. LaVerne Lang was among the first certified gemologists in the state of Iowa. He served on many civic boards in both Bloomfield and Muscatine. He was a member of the V.F.W., the Masonic Lodge, and the Methodist Church. His passions were his wife and family, his Model T Ford, and operating his amateur radio. He is survived by his daughters Mary Lang-Smith, Martha Lang, Margaret and Luca Berrone; grandchildren William P. and Frances Smith, Joshua A. and Linda Smith, Stefanie Smith, Tyler Berrone, Daniela Berrone, and great-granddaughter Jacqueline Rose Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Elexene, daughter Molly, and his parents.
