Read More	The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, November 29, 1979; pg. 3 Curtis Eugene Honeycutt was born to Roy and Evelyn Honeycutt on November 11, 1951, at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, and departed this life on November 22, 1979, at the age of 28 years and 11 days. He was baptized as a baby in the First Presbyterian Church in Nelson. Curtis grew up in the Nelson area and attended grade school at Highland District #66 and was graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1970. He spent moswt of his childhood on a farm southwest of Nelson where he was a member of the Fancy Feeders 4-H Club. In February 1971, Curtis entered the United States Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He received his military discharge in February of 1973. After the service, he attended Kearney State College and worked at various jobs, among them he was a driver for the Wells Fargo. For the past two years he was employed as a maintenance man for Burlington Northern Railroad and most recently worked out of Wymore, Nebraska. Curtis was a very loving son and brother and had a very special love for children. He especially loved his nieces and nephews and spent much time playing with them. Besides his parents, he leaves to mourn three brothers and two sisters, Gerald of Haven, Kansas, Mrs. Bob (Donna) Lammers of Red Cloud, Marvin of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Gary (Marlys) McClure and Mike, both of Nelson and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, from the United Presbyterian Church in Nelson. Rev. Michael Orsted officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Military rites were by Nelson American Legion Post #187 and V.F.W. Post #7197. Casketbearers were Donnie Cassell, Bill Riley, Jr., Kirk Young, Byron Young, Doug Porter and Randy Porter. Klawitter Funeral Home, Nelson, were in charge of the arrangements. Info on cause of death: An autopsy was ordered in the death of Curtis Honeycutt, whose body was found in his car in a county road ditch south of Belvidere. The State Patrol said Honeycutt's vehicle apparently went out of control and into the ditch early Thursday. The report said indications were that Honeycutt had attempted to get the car out of the ditch. Troopers said the car was partially burned in a fire which started in the front of the vehicle. The patrol said there were no apparent injuries on Honeycutt's body.
