The pallbearers were George Throckmorton, Charlie Throckmorton, John White, Albert Hill, Clarence White and Wayne White. Burial was in the Big Creek cemetery. "Curtis White, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel White, was born near Conover, Ohio., July 21 1842 where he grew to manhood and spent the early part of his life. He enlisted in the 141st Ohio volunteer infantry during the Civil War and served his full enlistment period. Shortly after thew war he was united in marriage to Charlotte Duer of Fletcher, O., and in 1869 with his family, then consisting of his wife and two small children, emigrated to Kansas, coming as far as Lawrence and from there with four or five other families they came to Coffey county which remained his home until the time of his death. He knew all the hardships and privation of pioneer life and the strong belief in the new country made him an ideal citizen. In 1876 his wife died leaving him with four small children and by the help of relatives and friends he kept them together. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Sarah E. Watkins to which union three children were born. "His death occurred June 15, 1924 at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 14 days. He was the last of a family of ten children. He is survived by his aged wife, two sons, Horace and Ross, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Sleener of near Burlington; one son, Wesley of California, and one step daughter Mrs. Della Potroff of Mason City, Ill., twenty three grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends".
