Description	:	"Mrs. White Obituary "Mrs. Curtis White died at her home near Viva, southwest of Burlington,Tuesday, January 7, 1936. She was born near Industry, Ill. October 9, 1852 and was 83 years and 3 months of age at the time of her death. "She came to Kansas in 1869 with her parents who homesteaded a farm near Viva. In 1872 she married Wm. Watkins who was drowned in the Neosho river at Burlington after a short wedded life. One child survives this union, Mrs. Delia Pottroff of Mason City, Ill. In 1878 she married Curtis White and settled in the Cola Hill neighborhood. "Two children my this marriage survive her. They are Ross of the home, Mrs. Mary Sleezer of Gridley. One died in infancy. Mr. White passed away June 15, 1924. Two sisters and one brother survive, all of LeRoy. They are Edmund Cox, Mrs. A. B. (Cora) Johnson and Mrs. Anna Bolen. "Funeral services were held at the Big Cree Presbyterian church Friday afternoon in charge of Rev. W. C. Chappell of the Burlington Methodist church. Interment was in the Big Creek cemetery. "Mrs. White united with the Baptist church in early life and was faithful to the end. She was always interested in the welfare of the community and her many friends cherish the memory of her kind and loving deeds". [Newspaper clipping]
