Mr. Shore was of the grand old Pennsylvania stock, having been born in that state Dec. 29, 1833, lacking but 8 days of rounding out 75 cycles of time. Mr. Shore was the fourth child in a family of six children and of these, one sister, Mrs. J. H. Dachenbach, survives. In 1856 he removed with his parents to Illinois and on May 5, 1864, was united in marriage to Miss Mary Eddleman, of Stark Co., Ohio. To this union four children, Sherman Shore, of this community, Mrs. Ida Zinnell and Nellie Shore, of Savannah, Ill., and Clarence Shore, who died in infancy. In 1884 the death angel visited their home and called therefrom the loving wife and mother. Mr. Shore was married the second time, and she who has shared his sorrows and joys for 23 years now mourns his departure. Since 1867 he had resided in this county, where he had surrounded himself with a host of friends who gathered at Zion church on Wednesday of last week to mingle their tears with the bereft relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Smith and the mortal man laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery. He whose life we have thus briefly sketched, was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a firm believer in the immortality of the soul and in the wisdom of preparing to meet his God. During his last illness he talked freely of the future life, exhorting his friends and loved ones to meet him in that joyful land where "the wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest."
