Kelley Passes At Hospital Mrs. Daisy Belle Kelley of Highmore, mother of S. I. Kelley of St. Lawrence, passed away Wednesday morning at the Miller hospital. She had been ill for some time. No funeral arrangements had been completed. The Miller Press, Miller, Hand, South Dakota Thursday, February 21 1946, p1 c5 Services Held For Mrs. Daisy Kelley Funeral services for Mrs. W. B. Kelley were held Saturday from the Methodist church in Highmore. Rev. Walker conducted the services, and burial was made in the I.O. O.F. cemetery at St. Lawrence. Daisy Belle Moon was born on June 22, 1875 in Peoria, Ill., and died at Miller, S.D., February 20, 1946 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 28 days. At the age of twelve she went to Sanborn, Ia., to make her home with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Moon. In the early years of her live she became a member of the Methodist church at Terrill, Ia. On December 10, 1891 she was united in marriage to Wesley B. Kelly. They made their home near Spencer, Ia., for five years then moved to Terrill, Ia., where they lived until 1903 at which time the family came to South Dakota. The Kellys have lived in several places in this state, having located first at Cavour, then at Alpena, later on a homestead south of Ree Heights, and since 1919, they have made their home in Highmore. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary of St. Lawrence. On December 10, 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Kelley celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. Kelly had been in failing health for some time. On February 14, she was taken to the hospital at Miller and a few days later submitted to an operation, but did not have strength to recover. She is survived by her husband, five children, Samuel I. Kelly, St. Lawrence; Mrs. Leo Lynch, Highmore; Mrs. James B. Hawkins, Eau Claire, Wis.; George S. Kelly, Kansas City, Mo.; and Mrs. Mary Dennis, Denver, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Fred Lindsley, Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Will Moon, Vayland; twenty-four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. “Daisy Belle,” as she was known to her many friends, will be remembered as a faithful wife and as a good mother. As a neighbor she was always ready to help in sickness or trouble. When the trying days came, having committed her way unto the Lord, she found comfort and strength in the Word of God and in prayer.
