Description	:	Dale Roger Nelson, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Wilcox, Nebraska) passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege, Nebraska. Dale was born January 16, 1933 on a farm near Oxford in Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to Stanley C. and Eva (Matson) Nelson. Read More	Dale Roger Nelson, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Wilcox, Nebraska) passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege, Nebraska. Dale was born January 16, 1933 on a farm near Oxford in Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to Stanley C. and Eva (Matson) Nelson. Dale was baptized at home and at the age of 12 he was confirmed at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska. He received his primary education from Phelps County, Nebraska District #15 and then attended Wilcox (NE.) Public Schools, graduating from Wilcox (NE.) High School with the class of 1950. Dale was inducted into the United States Army in February of 1953, serving his country during the Korean War. He was a Private with the 10th Infantry Division and was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas Company M of the 87th Infantry Third Platoon. On March 2, 1955 he was honorably discharged from the Army. Dale enjoyed visiting with his family about his Army days and his tours of duty overseas. On March 16, 1958, Dale was united in marriage to Idella Mae Stadler at the Open Bible Church in Kearney, Nebraska and to this union five children were born: Verna, Guy, Mark, Marvin, and Carlisle. The family made their home on a farm near Wilcox, Nebraska. Idella passed away in 1969. On April 4, 1971, Dale was united in marriage to his second wife, Winifred (Wommer) Sinsel at the Fridhem Lutheran Church, Funk, Nebraska and she had two children: Barbara and James Sinsel. Barbara passed away at a young age. Dale was engaged in farming with his father and brother until his retirement in 1987. He then went to work for Bethphage Mission, Axtell, NE. for 22 years until 2010. Dale was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church, Funk, NE. until transferring his membership to First Christian Church in Minden, Nebraska, where he was an active member until his passing. He enjoyed traveling, especially with his family. Dale made friends wherever he went and he thoroughly enjoyed visiting with new and old friends. He enjoyed going to Kansas once a year to the Tri-State Antique Engine and Thrashing Association in Bird City, Kansas. While there he would always make time to visit an old Army buddy, Alfred Pohlman and his wife, Iris. He always enjoyed going to SAC Museum near Omaha, NE. to look at the displays, especially the B-52 Bombers. Dale told the kids about watching them take off and land and while in the service he loaded and unloaded the bombers. Dale enjoyed music and loved to dance, he had commented many a time that dancing is a talent and one that he cherished. Dale was a true Christian that loved to read and have his Bible read to him. He loved to challenge anyone to passages in the Bible, he especially liked the Book of Proverbs, which was from his Army days and he said he gained a lot of wisdom and knowledge from the Bible. Besides his parents and two wives; Dale was preceded in death by one brother, James Nelson in infancy; sister, Bonnie Collison and her husband, Jim; brothers-in-law: George Stadler, Roy Stadler, Dickie "Dick" Stadler and his wife, Betty; sister-in-law, Karen Johnsen and her husband, Glenn and very special friend of 22 years, Maude Sowl. Dale leaves to mourn his passing his: children, Verna Heyen and her husband, Doug of Overland Park, KS., Guy Nelson and his wife, Robyn of Minden, NE., Mark Nelson and his wife, Carrie of Holdrege, NE., Marvin Nelson and his wife, Gloria of Holdrege, NE. and Carlisle "Carl" Nelson of Holdrege, NE.; grandchildren, Abby and Andrew Heyen, Ethan Nelson, Dylan Nelson, Brittany Nelson, Jeremy Hueftle and his wife, Lezlee, Brett Peterson, and Morgan and Samantha Ryan; great-granddaughter, Haylee Hueftle; brother, Ward Nelson and his wife, RoJean of Wilcox, NE. and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in the Prairie Home Cemetery. Holdrege, Nebaska with military honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Army National Guards Honor Teams.
