Pittman, 69, of Rt. 1, Taylors, died suddenly at 5:35 a.m. Monday at his home after three years of declining health. A life-long resident of the Camp Creek community in upper Greenville County, he was a son of the late A.J. & Cynthia Moon Pittman. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for 25 years and taught the Men's Bible Class for a number of years. He was a member of the Oakforest Camp, Woodmen of the World. He and Mrs. Pittman celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary Jan 1. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Connie [Cennie] McCracken Pittman; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Putman of Rt. 1, Wellford, and Mrs. Vern Atkins of Rt. 1, Duncan; four sons, Albert Pittman of Greer, Edwin Pittman of Rt. 5, Greenville, E.D. Pittman of Pevely, Mo., and Roscoe Pittman of Rt. 1, Taylors; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grand children. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Camp Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Claude Neely, Rev. Ralph Abercrombie and Rev. L.B. Morrison. Burial will be in Wood memorial Park. Pallbearers will be M.E. Bomar, V.G. and Mitchell Hightower, Carl Turner, L.B. Fowler and Stafford Campbell. Honorary escort will be Homer Fowler, and Deacons and former Deacons of Camp Creek Baptist Church. The body is at Wood Mortuary and will be placed in the Church at 1 p.m. Thursday.
