Read More	Parents are Burness Albert "Burn" LaDoux & Helen Hinshaw ---------------- Damon La Doux Damon Alan La Doux was born July 30, 1936, the son of Burness and Helen (Hinshaw) La Doux in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was born and raised in Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit Lake High School in 1954. Damon graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in finance and marketing in 1958. He was also a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and talented tenor of the Modern Choir at CU. Damon returned to Spirit Lake in 1959, where he managed and then owned the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, until he sold it in 1980. In 1987, he formed Damon and Associates, which specialized in retirement planning for senior citizens. Loving father of son Shaw and daughter Tasha, he devoted the remainder of his life to raising his children, successfully developing his business, and proudly serving his community. Damon was the President of the Coca-Cola Bottlers Association of Iowa; finance chairman of Boy Scouts of America, and the Goodwill Fund; founded and served as the first president of Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce; and was a member of the Board of Directors of a local bank, Iowa Lakes Rotary Club and the Iowa Great Lakes Water Quality. A man of many interests and passions, Damon loved the outdoors and his native Iowa prairie landscape. He was an avid and gifted golfer, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and listening to music - especially the piano played by his partner Karen. He loved to travel and explore the world, but also took an active interest in local history, especially the extensive La Doux family history in the Iowa Great Lakes region. Damon passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at his home in Milford at sixty-eight years of age. He is survived by special companion, Karen Carr of Milford; daughter, Tasha La Doux and fiancé, James André of Granite Cove, California; son, Shaw La Doux and wife Shelly, and their daughters, Harlie and Sophie of Spirit Lake. His parents, Burn and Helen La Doux, and his sister Joanne Shive preceded him in death.
