RITES HELD FOR LON PURCELL, 86 Special to The Nonpareil WOODBINE, March 29. --Services were held for Lon Purcell, 86, Wednesday afternoon at the home, with Rev. S. R. Overholser of the Presbyterian church in charge. Mr. Purcell was born in Putnam county, Indiana. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Boone, were direct descendants of Daniel Boone. He came here with his parents at the age of 8 years, settling on a farm near Crescent. When he was a young man, the family moved to Harrison county, where he resided until his death. He was married to Lena Bollier in 1870 and they were the parents of eleven children, ten living; one son, Emmett, having lost his life in the world war. Mr. Purcell is survived by his widow; seven sons, Dan of Sac City, Dean of Pacific Junction, Howard of Millard, Nebraska, Herbert, Ernest, Joe and Jesse, all of Woodbine; three daughters, Mrs. Pearle Johnson, Wakefield, Nebraska, Mrs. Ida Teague of Magnolia and Mrs. Maggie Moore of Woodbine; twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-seven great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Charles of Los Angeles; two half brothers, Ed of Missouri Valley and Bruce of Carrigan, North Dakota; one sister, Mrs. Ida Custard, Millard, Nebraska, and one half sister, Mrs. Minnie Moore, Pipestone, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Lee Tietsort, I. P. Browning, Mel Harris, Dick Young, Grant Landingham and James Glover. Music was furnished by a male quartet consisting of Charles Nicely, E. A. Rosenberger, Herbert Burkholder and Floyd Elston. Burial was in Woodbine cemetery. Published in The Daily Nonpareil (Council Bluffs, Iowa) on Friday, March 29, 1935.
