Description	:	Daniel Ayres Baker was the son of Rhoda Stradley and George W. Baker. Because their mother died when Daniel was less than 10 years old, he and his older sister, Catherine, were raised in the home of their grandfather, Dr. Daniel W. Stradley, in Wabash County, Indiana. In the early 1880s, Daniel relocated with his two uncles, the Drs. Ayres Stradley and Daniel N. Stradley, to Weld Co., Colorado, for promising business opportunites. Read More	Daniel Ayres Baker was the son of Rhoda Stradley and George W. Baker. In the early 1880s, Daniel relocated with his two uncles, the Drs. Ayres Stradley and Daniel N. Stradley, to Weld Co., Colorado, for promising business opportunites. Daniel was married in Platteville, Weld Co., Colo. on August 27, 1884 to Miss America Holton Thompson of Wabash, Indiana. Here two children were born: Hazel (1884) and Homer Verne (1886). In 1887, the little Baker family returned to Indiana - to Hartford City in Blackford County onto land given to them by America's grandfather, Dr. James Ford. Here seven more children were born: Rhea (1887), Joseph Thompson (1889), Carl Holton (1891), Allena (1893), Frank Ford (1895), Fred Stone (1899) and Harry Stamps (1901) Baker. In 1902, the Baker's with their nine children boarded a train and moved permanently to Colfax, Washington. Here two more daughters were born: America (1903) and Edna (1905). Daniel was a builder and was known in Colfax for making and selling holiday candy at Christmas time. At the time of his death, Daniel's 11 children had given him 33 grandchildren. Died at age 66 years, 7 months, 1 day. Daniel's wife, America Thompson Baker, was the granddaughter of Dr. James & America (Holton) Ford of Wabash, Indiana.
