| Description | : | Daniel's parents, James and Francis (Wyatt) Benson migrated to the United States in 1846 from England, settling near Mineral Point, Wisconsin, where he worked in coal and lead mines and on farms. George and Daniel, born in England, sons of James and Francis, decided farming was better suited to them so they came to Marshall County, Iowa, where other relatives had settled. Daniel purchased land in 1878 near LaMoille, Iowa, and State Center for $1,120. for 80 acres.
