Fisk were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. William Beckett, No. 502 South Main street. Many friends gathered to pay their last respects to Mr. Fisk and brought with them floral tributes in profusion. The Rev. A.L. Golden, pastor of the Marion street M.E. church, had charge of the funeral and gave a consoling sermon, on the text 1st John 2-17. The musical numbers were provided by Mrs. Ada Nutt and Robert Menzies, with Miss Jessie Templin as organist. The songs were “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” “No Sorrow There” and “Some Glad Day”. Mr. Fisk being an old soldier serving his country in the way of the rebellion, was accorded the G.A.R. funeral services, on the lawn at the Beckett home. The funeral cortege was then formed and the body taken to the Rose Hill cemetery for interment. The pallbearers were Messrs. W.R. Dyer, Joshua Stumbo, John Paxton, Tam Davis, C.E. Rogers and John Good. A life sketch of Mr. Fisk follows: Daniel B. Fisk was born at Leroy, Genesee county, N.Y., Nov. 19, 1828, and died April 18, 1914, at Boone, Ia., aged 85 years, 5 months and 29 days. During different periods in his life he resided in Minnesota, Dakota, and later in Iowa. In 1859 he was married to Eliza Johnson and to this union eight children were born, of whom six are living, namely: Mrs. Elizabeth Beckett, of Boone; Mrs. Minnie Miller of Waneehee, Wash.; Louis Fisk, of Medical Springs, Oregon, George Fisk, of Baker City, Oregon; Sidney B. Fisk, of Iola, Kansas, and Daniel T. Fisk, of Lewiston, Idaho; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him. He enlisted in the war of the Rebellion and served three and one half years. In 1903 he came to Boone to make his home and in 1904 was married to Mrs. Alice Content Coon, who survives him. They lived on College and State streets until ill health caused them to take up their home with his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Beckett, at 502 South Main street, where the end came last Friday morning. His death was mainly due to old age. The sympathy of many friends is extended to the relatives in this sorrow. Mrs. Fisk is in a critical condition, the death of her husband being a great shock, as she was not in the best of health at the time. She was unable to accompany the body to the cemetery Monday afternoon. Sidney Fisk, a son, came from Kansas and attended the funeral.
