Description	:	Boone County Democrat March 22, 1917 Elizabeth Fisk was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel B. Fisk. She was born April 20th, 1861 at St. Cloud, Minnesota. She died at her home, 502 South Main street, March 17, 1917. Her age was fifty-five years, ten months and twenty-four days. Read More	Boone County Democrat March 22, 1917 Elizabeth Fisk was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel B. Fisk. She was born April 20th, 1861 at St. Cloud, Minnesota. She died at her home, 502 South Main street, March 17, 1917. Her age was fifty-five years, ten months and twenty-four days. Three months ago she was taken ill and went to the Eleanor Moore hospital where she passed through an operation for appendicitis. Later complications set in and as the days [passed it was seen that the end was near. Loving hands made her last days, days of comfort and the most tender care was given her, but the end came on Saturday last. She moved with her parent’s form Minnesota to North Dakota, where she was married to John A. Rose in 1879. To them were born six children, four of whom are living. Walter D. Died when two years of age, and Mary E. in infancy. Soon after marriage they moved to Iowa and for thirty-three years her home has been in Boone. Mr. Rose passed away July 15th, 1892. On September 7th, 1910, she was united in marriage to William A. Beckett, who survives her. She had been one of the most active members of the Gospel Tabernacle, identified with it from the earliest beginning of the church. She had taught class No. 1 at the Sabbath School for several years, being a very acceptable teacher and successor to Mrs. Crawford who founded the class. This class, 60 in number, attended the funeral in a body, as did the two W.C.T. Unions of Boone. Mrs. Beckett was president of the West Boone W.C. T.U. Besides her husband, Mr. Beckett she is survived by her mother, Mrs. J.H. Montgomery of Hamilton, North Dakota, one sister and four brothers. Her sister is Mrs. J.H. Miller of Wenatchee Washington, D.B. Fisk, Everett, Washington, Lewis and George Fisk of Medical Springs, Oregon, S.B. Fisk of Iola, Kansas; also her four children, Mrs. William Murdoch of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Thomas Heaps, John A. and Laura E. Rose of Boone. There has perhaps never lived in Boone, said her pastor, a woman answering more completely, the character of Dorcas mentioned in Acts 9:36 “A woman full of good works and alma deeds which she did”. Mrs. Beckett was noted for her self-sacrificing spirit, always ready to serve where there was any sorrow or need of any kind. She has exemplified, not only the spirt of her Master, whom she served, but has been a woman of great energy and business sense, so with her labors and economy she raised her family and attained a reasonable competency. The funeral was held at the Gospel Tabernacle at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. The audience filled the gallery and the east room, beside the auditorium. Her pastor, the Rev. J. Chas. Crawford conducted. The music was by Mr. Frank Temple, Mr. Albin Mathason, Miss Olga Holmberg and Miss Fay Jones, who were among the oldest members of class No. 1. Miss Clara Gaston, another member, presided at the organ. The hymns sung were selected by Mrs. Beckett herself and they were “Safe in the Arms of Jesus,” “My Heavenly Home is Bright and Fair.” And “Jesus I come to thee.” Mrs. Beckett also selected her own funeral text, John 14:2-3. From this Pastor Crawford preached on the “Heavenly Home.” The pallbearers were from her request, selected from her class and were Messrs., Fred Gaston, Fred Phillips, Ben Dirks, Paul Dyer, Gale Moberg and Frank Eastland. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. The burial was at Rose Hill cemetery, west of the river.
