Description	:	DANIEL E. SICKLES Daniel E. Sickles was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, in 1839, and on the 5th of August 1862, he enlisted in Capt. Henry Oliphant's Company G of the 16th regiment of the Pennsylvania cavalry. For more than two years he served his country courageously and valiantly, and on account of wounds received in an engagement at Cold Harbor, Vermont, was on September 17th, 1864, discharged from the service. He passed away at his home in this city on November 9th, 1917, after years of partial disability, due to a paralytic stroke. During all of the time he was tenderly cared for by the devoted wife. He is survived by the wife, two sons, Chancey H. Sickles of Graham, Iowa, and William H. Sickles of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Cole, of Pursey, Pennsylvania. Mr. Sickles had been a resident of Manchester for about ten years, and lived for many years prior to that time at Edgewood. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday forenoon at 10:30. The services were conducted by Rev. H. F. McDonald, and following the services at the church the remains were taken to Edgewood and laid to rest in the family lot at that place. Mr. Sickles was a member of the Baptist church and was a faithful attendant at all of the services until the weight of years made it impossible. He was also a member of the W. A. Morse post, G. A. R., the members of which attended the funeral services in a body. The ladies of the Relief Corps also attended the services in a body. The sincere sympathy is extended the wife and children in the sorrow that has come to them.
