Craney dies in Omaha Hospital Daniel Edward Craney, 76, a longtime resident of Walnut, died Saturday at 1:25 p.m. in St. Joseph's hospital where he submitted to an operation on Friday. He had been a patient at the hospital about a month. Mr. Craney was born on April 24, 1862, at Washington, Iowa, the son of James and Eliza Craney, and moved to the Walnut vicinity with his parents when 13 years of age. Craney dies in Omaha Hospital Daniel Edward Craney, 76, a longtime resident of Walnut, died Saturday at 1:25 p.m. in St. Joseph's hospital where he submitted to an operation on Friday. He had been a patient at the hospital about a month. Mr. Craney was born on April 24, 1862, at Washington, Iowa, the son of James and Eliza Craney, and moved to the Walnut vicinity with his parents when 13 years of age. He was married to Miss Margaret Cooper on April 25, 1899 in Atlantic. Mrs. Craney preceded him in death on March 23, 1916. Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.Peter Lamberty of Walnut. Another daughter, Helen Frances, passed away in 1911. Two brothers, Joseph M. and George William Craney, of Walnut, and a step-sister, Mrs. Thomas Gaffey of Atlantic, also survive. Funeral services were held at 9:30 Tuesday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Walnut. Rev. Father Cashman of Avoca officiated. Interment was in the Walnut Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Martin, Henry Scheef, Frank Robinson, B. B. Nissen, William Nissen and Charles Waters. Walnut Bureau April 6, 1939
