Obituary J. M. Craney, 65, died suddenly at 10:30 Monday morning at his farm home, 2 miles northeast of Walnut. He was taken ill with a heart attack while working about the farm and passed away shortly after reaching the house. Joseph Miles Craney was born on August 9, 1876, on the farm where he died, the son of James and Eliza Craney. With the exception of 20 years spent in Omaha, he has been a resident of the Walnut vicinity. On April 27, 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Bridget F. Conroy at Atlantic, Iowa. Besides the widow he is survived by a brother, G.W. Craney of Walnut, and several nephews and nieces. The Rosary was recited at the Craney home at 8:30 Tuesday evening. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Walnut Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock with the Rev. Thomas P Murphy of Des Moines in charge. Burial was made in the Walnut Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifford Craney, Dale Craney, George Gibbons, Vincent Gibbons, Thomas Murphy and Bernard Murphy. (Walnut Bureau 4-3-1941)
