Funeral services were conducted from the St. Mary’s church in David City at 9:30 Wednesday morning and burial in the Catholic cemetery. Daniel Edward Haney, who died on December 11 after illness of three months, at the age of 56 years, 3 months and 24 days, was born at Rising City August 17, 1880, a son of James and Mary Haney. He lived in the same section all of his life. He was married September 11, 1902, to Laura Carpenter, daughter of Bruce and Mary Carpenter. To them were born three children, Wauneta Minick of David City, Bruce who preceded his father in death February 4, 1922, and Grace Duren of David City. Mr. Haney is survived by his wife and daughters, one grandson, Eddie Duren, four brothers, James and John Haney of Rising City, David D. Haney of Omaha and Charles Haney of Chicago, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. John Branigan of Columbus, Mrs. Bernie Mulgrue of Rising City and Mrs. Edward Harris of David City, also several nieces and nephews. After finishing school as a young man, Mr. Haney took a course in business training at the Fremont normal school. He was devoted to his family and was active in civic and social affairs and had a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, with requiem high mass by Rev. William Murphy and music by the children's choir of St. Mary's school. The pallbearers were Everett Haney, Marvin Haney, Charles Branigan, John Mulgrue, Wayne Shenefelt and Elmo Stryker. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, by side of the grave of Mr. Haney's son, Bruce. Relatives in attendance at the funeral from a distance were Charles Haney of Chicago, Ill., David Haney and Eugene Haney of Omaha, Cletus Haney of Valley, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stryker of Callaway, Mr. and Mrs. Shenefelt and son of Cozad, Mrs. George Fredericks, Mrs. Myra Fozzard, Dr. and Mrs. Redfern and Miss Mary Margaret Mulgrue of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. John Branigan and children and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Snedeker of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Parolek of Schuyler, Mrs. Robert Pierce and Elmo Stryker of Callaway and Charles Branigan of Omaha. _____ Card of Thanks - We wish to acknowledge with sincere thanks the kind expressions of sympathy during the illness and at time of death of our beloved husband and father. ''''' The Peoples Banner, December 24, 1936, p. 1, col. 1 Daniel Edward Haney Daniel Edward Haney was born at Rising City, Nebr., August 17, 1880, son of James and Mary Haney, where he grew to manhood and lived in the same section all his life. He was married September 11, 1902 to Laur Carpenter, daughter of Bruce and Mary Carpenter. To this union were born three children, Wauneta Minnick, of Octavia; Bruce, who preceded his father in death, February 4, 1922; and Grace Duren of David City. Under the constant care and vigilance of a trained nurse and his devoted wife, nothing was left undone that human hands could do. But it was to no avail and his soul returned to the God who had given it. After finishing school he attended Fremont Normal, where he took a course in business training. He was active in civic and social activities and devoted to his home life. He departed this life on December 11, 1936 at the age of 56 years, 3 months and 24 days, after an illness of three months. Besides his wife and daughters he is survived by four brothers, James and John of Rising City; David D. of Omaha; and Charles of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. John Branigan of Columbus; Mrs. Bernie Mulgrue of Rising City; and Mrs. Ed Harris of David City; one grandson, Eddie Duren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Wednesday, December 16 in St. Mary’s church, David City at 9:30 a.m. Requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Wm. Murphy and music was by the children’s choir of St. Mary’s school. Burial was at St. Mary’s cemetery by the side of his son, Bruce. Pall bearers were Everett Haney, Marvin Haney, Chas. Branigan, John Mulgrue, Wayne Shenefelt and Elmo Stryker. He will be missed by a large circle of friends and relatives. Relatives who attended the funeral from a distance were Chas. Haney, Chicago; David Haney and Eugene Haney from Omaha; Cletus Haney from Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stryker, Mrs. Robert Pierce and Elmo Stryker of Callaway, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Shenefelt and Wayne from Cozad; Mrs. George Frederick, Mrs. Almira Fozzard, Dr. and Mrs. D.
