Neither vehicle carried passengers. David J. Kirby, 25, died on the way to a Great Falls hospital. Kirby was on his way from Belt to Great Falls at the time of the accident, the Montana Highway Patrol said. Kirby was born in Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls Central High School in 1972 and attended the University of Montana for a year. For the past four and a half years, he has been employed by the Northside IGA. He and Debra Mader were married on Nov. 16, 1973 in Idaho Falls. She survives along with a daughter, Heather; his parents, Thomas and Nina Kirby, Great Falls; five brothers, Roy, Great Falls; Tim, Helena, Francis, Robert and Ed, all of Hungry Horse. His funeral will be Monday at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Family Church followed by burial in Tiger Butte Cemetery. The rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. in the O’Connor Memorial Chapel.
