Foxen, 59, of Dyersville, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, with his family at his side after an eight-year courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where a parish scripture service will be at 4:30 p.m. and an American Legion Service will be at 7 p.m. He was born on Sept. 29, 1949, in Dubuque, son of Louis and Lucille (Neuhaus) Foxen. He graduated from Western Dubuque High School with the class of 1968. Daniel entered the Army, serving his country in Vietnam until the end of the war. Upon his return, he worked various jobs including the City of Dyersville, River City Paving, Esser Sanitation and Iowa Pipeline. He was a member of the American Legion Post 137. Dan enjoyed walking and often was seen walking through town. He was always outdoors and was never afraid to offer a helping hand. He was an avid Cubs fan. Surviving are his siblings, Darlene Hogan, of Dubuque, Dennis (Kathy) Foxen, of Dyersville, Duane (Nancy) Foxen, of Jasper, Ind., Diane Foxen and Lori (Brian) Wells, both of Dyersville; nieces and nephews, Marcia (Matt) Fiegen, Bob (Andrea) Hogan, Andy (Adriana) Foxen, Tony (Kristi) Foxen, Jeremy (Megan) Foxen, Michele (Jim) Schoenbachlers, Mary Foxen, Tracy (Jason) Stepanek and Jesse (special friend, Paula Fischer) Wells; and nine great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
