He married Lucille R. Neuhaus on Nov. 30, 1944, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. He worked at the battery factory in Dubuque and Armstrong Lumber Co. in Dyersville until his retirement. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 137. He enjoyed woodworking, watching the Cubs and feeding and watching the birds. He also enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Daniel and Dennis (Kathy) of Dyersville and Duane (Nancy) of Jasper, Ind.; three daughters, Darlene Hogan of Dubuque and Diane Foxen and Lori (Brian) Wells, both of Dyersville; nine grandchildren, Marcia Feigen of Durango, Bob Hogan of Rolling Meadows, Ill., Tracy Stepanek of Anamosa, Jesse Wells, Andy and Tony Foxen, all of Dyersville, and Jeremy, Michele and Mary Foxen of Jasper, Ind.; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Theresa) of New Glarus, Wis.; a sister, Veronica Gogel of Worthington; and a sister-in-law, Germaine Foxen of Luxemburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in June 1995; three brothers, Joe, Clarence and Emmett; and a sister, Lorraine. The family would like to thank the Oak Crest Manor staff and Hospice of Dubuque County for the care they provided him these later years.
