Jun 7. He was in his 90th year. He came to Nebraska and Butler Co. In 1891 and engaged in farming near Ulyssess. On March 28, 1894 he was united in marriage to Ellen Mahony at Plasi. To them were born ten children, of whom one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Ward of Ulyssess has passed on. The surviving children are J. M. Powers, Brighton Utah, A. E. Powers Seattle, Wash, L. W. Powers Hooper, J. F. Powers Omaha, Daniel Powers, San Francisco, California, Char. F. Powers, Oakland, Calif and Vivian, Mrs. Ronald Hillyer of Omak, Washington. All but the last three named came to attend the funeral. Mr. Powers also leaves two brothers and two sisters, Tom Powers of David City, Mrs. Nellie Powers of Arlington, Ver, Mrs. Margaret Morrissey of Saybrook, Illinois and Ed Powers of Farmer City, Ill. In 1936 Mr. And Mrs. Powers moved to David City, where Mrs. Powers passed away in 1941. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City, at 10 o'clock Friday morning in charge of Rev. William A. Murphy, Pallbearers were Tom Flynn, Jr., John Keefe of Lincoln, George Birkel, Joe Farrell, Gerald Gray and William Ward. Music was by St. Mary's choir. Burial was at St. Mary's cemetery.
