Perkins, aged 61 years the 20th day of last January. He was born in Southern Illinois, moved from there to Warren county, Illinois, where he married Mariah Lawrence, who died here in Kansas in 1875. Read More	South Kansas Tribune, Wed., Mar. 17, 1886 Daniel R. Perkins Died, on Sunday, March 14th, between the hours of one and two p. m., at his residence in Sycamore township, Daniel R. Perkins, aged 61 years the 20th day of last January. He was born in Southern Illinois, moved from there to Warren county, Illinois, where he married Mariah Lawrence, who died here in Kansas in 1875. From Warren county, Illinois, he moved to Warren county, Iowa, about 1853 and from there to this county in 1873. He leaves ten children to mourn his loss - seven boys and three girls. One girl preceded him. Those living are Albert and Elijah, in Iowa. Frank, Joshua, Steven, Rachel, Jasper, Abigal, now the wife of Cyrus Ringle, Ephraim and Minnie. All the boys are married except for last named. Yes, Uncle Dan is dead, one of the old land marks is gone, and one whom, all of us who came here in the (what is known) early days, loved and respected for his kind, neighborly, manly qualities. To meet Uncle Dan was to meet sunshine. Uncle Dan (as he was always called) was well known to all the early settlers, not only of Sycamore township, but to Independence and the rest of the county, and died unusually regretted by those who knew him. His children and grand-children have everybody's sympathy. The funeral took place Monday afternoon, Rev. Father Evans officiating. He was buried in the Murphy cemetery, at foot of Table Mound.
