DANIEL ROBERT VANCE, son of Lydia Rebecca (Dunn) and Clyde Harold Vance, was born February 15, 1920, in Sardinia, Ohio; and departed this life on November 29, 1992, at Brown County Hospital, at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 14 days. He attended the Whiteoak United Brethren Church and Sardinia High School. On August 19, 1939, he was united in marriage to Nellie Ellen McClanahan. To this union was born one son, Douglas Robert. "Bob" served his country during World War II in the United States Army - Company F, 594th Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, Fourth Engineer Special Brigade. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, Bob was employed by Auto Lite and Kidde, Inc. He, also, owned and operated a service station in Reading. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and his younger brother, Joe Dunn Vance, who, with his wife, Marye, was killed in an automobile accident July 8, 1966. He is survived by his son, Douglas Robert, Colorado; two grandchildren, James Douglas Vance, Colorado, and Susan Kimberly Vance, Milford, Ohio; brother James Willard Vance, and wife, Peg, Arlington, Virginia; sister, Mildred Lenore (Vance) Barnes, and husband, Otto, Cincinnati; and special friend, Nellie Clifton. The family of Daniel Robert Vance would like to express our gratitude to our friends and relatives for their many acts of kindness to him and to us during his lifetime and since his death. We sincerely appreciate your thoughtfulness.
