Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE. Daniel Spencer Morgan, was born on June 9, 1940 to Spencer and Maxine (Aaberg) Morgan, in Grand Island, NE. Dan was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Albion and attended school at the Albion Public School. In 1958, Dan graduated from Albion High School, and following his high school education, he attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. On June 10, 1962 Dan was united in marriage to Dorothy Rieck at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The couple had two children, Doug and Devara. He was employed as a service technician for KN Energy where he for several years. The family moved to Laurel NE, where Dan worked at the Bill Norvell Insurance Agency selling insurance. The family then moved back to Albion where he owned and operated Morgan Plumbing and Heating for over 40 years. Dan was united in marriage to Kathy (Metz) Ketteler on September 5, 1992 at the United Methodist Church in Albion. Following their marriage the couple lived in Albion. On February 19, 2006 Dan suffered a severe stroke. Dan loved to spend time with his family, especially grandkids and great grandkids. He loved the outdoors, taking his grandkids on fishing adventures and hunting trips. One of his favorite past times was playing cards at the Albion Locker with his card buddies. Dan loved playing practical jokes, especially his coyote call, the rattlesnake in the cooler at the Locker and Dry Ice Bombs. Dan enjoyed golf, bowling and playing in the Albion Slow Pitch Softball League. He loved listening and singing country music. He could identify birds and butterflies and loved sharing this information with his grandkids. He was an avid coin collector especially Morgan Silver Dollars. Dan was a member of Pheasants Forever, the United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and was a former member of the Albion Fire Department. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his generosity and the pride he took in his work. He enjoyed sharing his business experiences and knowledge that helped many of the young men working for him succeed in their chosen careers. Dan is survived by his wife: Kathy Morgan of Albion, NE; two children: Doug (Debbie) Morgan of Albion, NE; Devara (Kory) Schafer of Albion, NE; four step sons Lee (Brenda) Ketteler of Albion, NE; Allan (Rene’) Ketteler of Grand Island, NE; Dan (Jeanne) Ketteler of Portage, MI; Jeremy Ketteler of Petersburg, NE; 12 grandchildren: Ashley (Adam) Babl; Betsy (Justin) Niewohner; Mackinze (Alex) Buschow; Bryce Morgan; Shelby Schafer; Christian Ketteler; Keenan Ketteler; Skylar Ketteler; Haley Ketteler; Brennan Ketteler; Riggin Ketteler; Rally Ketteler; six great-grandchildren: Brystol Buschow; Shania Buschow; Brantlee Babl; Julia Niewohner; Vanessa Buschow; Emma Niewohner; one brother: Gary (JoAnn) Morgan of Highland Ranch, CO; and one sister: Connie Flakus of Aberdeen, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law: Alf and Delores Metz; one brother: Marty Morgan; and one brother-in-law: Jim Flakus.
