Shinn, age 92, resident of Fort Scott, Kansas, died Friday, November 27, 2015, at Medicalodge of Fort Scott. He was born August 27, 1923, in Bronson, Kansas, the son of Orval L. and Nora Myrtle Nash Shinn. He graduated from Bronson High School with the class of 1941. He served our country during WWII in the United States Navy. He married Wilma M. Eastwood on May 14, 1947, in Bronson. She preceded him in death on June 6, 2008. Danny worked for the Kansas Highway Department, owned and operated the Bronson Café, and farmed on the family farm. He worked for Phillips Petroleum for many years, retiring at age 62. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, and gardening. His passion was playing baseball. He loved watching all sports and was a big Cardinals fan until the A’s and Royals came to Kansas City. He was also known to root for Alabama and KU. Danny was a lifelong Mason. He attended Diamond Community Church and later Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Fort Scott. His life touched innumerable people through his smile, humor and kindness. Survivors include one son, Orval Shinn and wife Carla, Bronson, Kansas; two daughters, Dana Eudey and husband Jerrell, Tulia, Texas, and Lorrain Cook, Yuma, Arizona; one sister, Enid C. Large, Fort Scott; two sister-in-law’s, Thora Shinn, and Marilyn Eastwood; one brother-in-law, Dee Eastwood and wife Erma; four grandchildren, Gabriel Shinn and wife Tracy, Tara Vera and husband Pedro, Carla Amburn and husband Terrill, and Colton Cook and wife Brittany; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Wilma, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Orval Shinn; and a brother-in-law, Wilbur Eastwood. Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 2nd, at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown. Burial will follow in the Turkey Creek Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard. Masonic services will be conducted at 5:00 followed by visitation until 7:00, Tuesday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott. Memorials are suggested to the FSCC Athletic Department and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel.
