Read More	Darlene Lucille (Cullen) Gottschalk Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah QUINCY - Darlene Gottschalk of Quincy passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Darlene was born in Sunnyside, Washington on April 13, 1952 to Ned and Lucille Cullen. She grew up on the family dairy in Outlook, Washington and graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1970. In September of 1970, she married Jack Gottschalk and moved to Quincy where their first son (Ed) was born. The family then moved to Goldendale where their second son (David) was born. A few years later, they moved back to Quincy. Darlene worked as a cashier at Aikins grocery store until 1983 when she began pursuing a career in law enforcement and emergency services. She had served as the director of Emergency Medical Services at Quincy Valley Hospital since 1997. Darlene lived life to its fullest. She actively supported her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed family gatherings and especially summer vacations and golfing with her brothers and sisters. Darlene is survived by her sons Ed (Veronica) Gottschalk of Moses Lake and David (Misty) Gottschalk of Quincy; 5 grandchildren; Jonathan, Abygail, Justin, Tanner and Corey; sister Kathy (Gene) Reed of Quincy, brothers Jim (Kathy) Cullen of Sunnyside, Dave (Susan) Cullen of Yakima, and Tom Cullen of Gresham, Oregon. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and many cousins and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Lucille Cullen and grandson Zachary. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her dear friends, Verna Teeter, Connie Hubbel, Nancy Schanze, and the members of the Quincy Valley Ambulance Service. Holy Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 10, at 7:00pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 11, at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy. Interment will be Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 am at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is entrusted with arrangements.
