Description	:	"Darlene Hilbers, 83, of Boone, Iowa, formerly of Scribner, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, in Boone, Iowa. Darlene was born May 16, 1932, on a farm southwest of Snyder to Jerry and Anna Hronik Jelinek. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Scribner and 1950 graduate of Scribner High School. Darlene married Virgil Hilbers on June 22, 1950, at United Lutheran Church. They had three children, Janis, Jeri and Royce. The couple spent much of their married life in Scribner. Darlene was born May 16, 1932, on a farm southwest of Snyder to Jerry and Anna Hronik Jelinek. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Scribner and 1950 graduate of Scribner High School. Darlene married Virgil Hilbers on June 22, 1950, at United Lutheran Church. They had three children, Janis, Jeri and Royce. The couple spent much of their married life in Scribner. Darlene was a homemaker when her children were young and later worked for Farm Bureau Insurance in Scribner. She also helped Virgil with the trucking business. Darlene taught Sunday school and Bible school. She enjoyed family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening and, most importantly, remained an avid Husker fan until her death. Following Virgil's retirement in 1987, the couple moved to Lincoln where Darlene was employed at Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. She also enjoyed an occasional Husker game with friends. After Virgil's death in 2009, Darlene moved to Ogden, Iowa, where Janis and her family resided. She attended several musicals in Des Moines, loved the Des Moines River Valley scenery and attending family events. Darlene entered Westhaven Community in Boone last December. Survivors include her daughters, Janis and Terry Wendt of Ogden, Iowa, and Jeri Janecek of Dodge and her fiancé Quinn Dunker of Morse Bluff; son, Royce of Independence, Missouri, and his friend Vicki Garber also of Independence; grandchildren, Ryan and Mindy Wendt, Brandon Wendt, Cameron and Brandi Wendt, Jennifer and Mitch Schmidt, Joel Janecek and Brian and Jamie Hilbers; great-grandchildren, Logan Williams, Taylor Wendt, Tessa Wendt, Jaxon Cady, Lauren and Abigail Schmidt and Shayla, Makenna and Dayne Hilbers; sister, Geraldine Kudera of Schuyler; half-sister, Ardith Paulson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Lois Hilbers of Elkhorn and Janet Killingsworth of Scribner; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Charles Janecek; brothers, Delwyn and Dennis; sisters-in-law, Bev Jelinek and Doris Hilbers; and brothers-in-law, Dean and Gene Hilbers and Lumir Kudera. A funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at United Lutheran Church in Scribner. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Ludvigsen’s Scribner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery north of Hooper.
