Visitation will be held 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Nelson Funeral Service and in association with the Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. She married Leo Fier on June 27, 1959, in Maquoketa. Darlene worked at Dewitt Community Hospital as a Unit Secretary for over 27 years and at Dots Hallmark in Dewitt for 10 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 52 years, Education Coordinator of the C.C.D. Program, Ci-Ed Club of Dewitt, Red Hats Club, a 48-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Dewitt Nite Lions Club where she received the Warren Coleman and Melvin Jones Award. Darlene was an active Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Darlene is survived by her husband, Leo of Dewitt; five children, Mark (Tina) Fier of Dewitt, Michael Fier of Winterset, IA, Julie (Michael) Flammang of Grand Mound, IA, Marty Fier of Charlotte, and Jodie (Brian) Williams of Parkview, IA; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Carol McCrady of Maquoketa.
