Description	:	Darlene M. Strain, 78, of Portland, Oregon, formerly of Tipton, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Adventist Hospital, Portland, after complications from hip surgery. Graveside memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa, with the Rev. Brian Wilkins officiating. Darlene Mae Fankhauser was born November 30, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Kenneth and Velma (Hulshizer) Fankhauser. She graduated from Tipton High School, Class of 1958. She married Edgar Light on August 3, 1958, in Tipton, and they had three children, Sheila, Kevin and Glenda. Edgar preceded her in death. She married Norman Strain in 1977 and they moved to Portland, Oregon in 1980, where she continued to live and work. Norman preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Light and Glenda Light; one son, Kevin (Sylvia) Light; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyl Britcher of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, William (Erleen) Fankhauser of Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and one sister, Betty Fankhauser. Fry Funeral Home
