Darlon Gene Cook, daughter of Darrel Dann and Elva Zelda Mary (Lawrence) Matchett, was born March 28, 1935 at Loretto, NE. She went to Loretto Public School District #72 and graduated from Albion High School in 1952. Darlon was married to Merlin Cook on December 9, 1953 at Kennewick, WA. They lived for a time in Richland, WA, Yakima, WA, and then moved to Albion, NE in 1957. They later divorced. Darlon worked for Azonic Products Inc. from 1970-77’. From 1977-89’, she owned and operated Mode O’ Day clothing store in Albion. In 1986, she returned to work at Azonic, retiring in 2001. Following her retirement, she was employed by Caring Companions for a number of years. Darlon was baptized into the Loretto United Methodist Church as a child and later transferred her membership to the Albion United Methodist Church, serving as a member for 66 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the United Methodist Women, active in the church choir, the Neighborhood Coffee Club and was a representative for Church Women United. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Meals On Wheels program. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, crafting, singing and collecting angels. Darlon is survived by her three children: Susan Andreasen and husband Wayne, Barbara Oetken and husband Larry, and Robert Cook, all of Norfolk, NE; eight grandchildren: Karri (Mike) Wiederin and Michael (Trisha) Andreasen, all of Norfolk; Jamon (Katie) Andreasen of Brookfield, MO; Bradley Andreasen of Genoa; Ashley and Jordan Oetken of Norfolk; Andrew Cook of Bellevue; and Caitlin Cook of Papillion; 10 great-grandchildren: Ayden, Cael, and Mia Wiederin; Raina, Braylon and Reese Andreasen; Madeline, Owen, Della and Jacob Andreasen, along with many other relatives and friends. Darlon was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Marwin Matchett and Donovan Matchett in infancy, and an infant great-grandson Cade Wiederin.
